Elizabeth graduated from The University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy) in 2006. Since graduating Elizabeth has worked across both the private and public sectors initially in NSW and then in ACT when she relocated in 2013.

Elizabeth has experience in treating a wide variety of conditions and injuries but began focusing on the area of hand therapy in 2009. After extra studies and clinical practice Elizabeth achieved formal credentialing for this in 2014 in both Australia and the USA. Elizabeth has achieved the Accredited Hand Therapist credential as awarded by the Australian Hand Therapy Association.

In 2016 Elizabeth launched Canberra Hand Therapy, a therapy practice with a focus on treatment and rehabilitation for clients with upper limb pathologies. Since its inception Canberra Hand Therapy has grown and now comprises of both Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists and as a practice is committed to ensuring optimal and individualized care for our clients.

Elizabeth has presented at a variety of forums and conferences and has recently served on the Australian Hand Therapy Committee of Management as the Membership Chair and State and Territories Affairs Officer. Elizabeth was a part of this committee from 2016 to 2021 and continues to be dedicated to improving public access and awareness of the hand therapy profession.

Outside of work, Elizabeth enjoys exploring the outdoors and going for hikes and bike rides with her young family.

Andrew graduated from Sydney University in 1996 and has over twenty years of experience in private practice. For 13 years Andrew owned and ran his practice on the NSW South Coast, servicing two towns and gained skills in managing a variety of conditions including post-operative orthopaedics, sporting injuries, paediatrics, neurological, aged care, Lymphoedema and workplace injuries.

In 2011 Andrew and his family relocated to Canberra, where he continued working in private general physiotherapy practice. In recent years, Andrew has turned his focus to hand therapy and the management of the upper limb. In 2019 he joined Canberra Hand Therapy, assisting patients rehabilitate from acute, chronic, and post-operative conditions. While Andrew has focused on hand therapy, he has retained an interested in the assessment and management of the knee and ankle.

Andrew enjoys mentoring students and graduates, growing the confidence of the physiotherapy profession as first contact practitioners. He believes allied health professionals play a vital role in being at the forefront of health care, along with the medical profession in achieving optimal patient outcomes.

Outside of work, Andrew has a passion for cycling and the great outdoors and spends his weekends exploring Canberra and surrounding regions on his bikes. He hopes to one day become involved in outreach programmes and share his work experiences with others aboard.

Laura McKinnon, Occupational Therapist

Laura graduated from the University of Newcastle with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy in 2016. Since graduating Laura has worked in a variety of settings and in 2019 found her love for hand therapy, while completing a 12 month hand therapy traineeship with Territory Hands in the NT.

Laura joined our team in early 2020 and enjoys treating a wide variety or hand injuries and loves the challenge of complex splinting. Laura achieved the Accredited Hand Therapist Credential as awarded by the Australian Hand Therapy Association in 2022.

In her spare time Laura enjoys spending time with her Golden Retriever Pippa, hosting dinner parties, cycling, hiking, skiing and working on house renovations with her husband James.

Cassandra Barker

​After graduating from the University of NSW in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science majoring in anatomy, Cassandra wanted to use her knowledge in a more practical way so began studying Physiotherapy and was awarded a Bachelor of Applied Science in Physiotherapy from the University of Sydney in 1999.

Cassandra’s interest in hand therapy began early in her career where she worked in the public hospital system in Sydney. After moving to Canberra in 2007, she began working for the Australian Defence Force where her interest in hand therapy grew. She has felt privileged to be able to provide a high standard of wide-ranging Physiotherapy services to our serving members and appreciates the opportunity to help patients maximise function of the hand following injury or surgery.

Cassandra is an associate member of the Australian Hand Therapy Association and joined the Canberra Hand Therapy team in February of 2021.

Cassandra delights in her busy family life in the countryside just outside of Canberra. She enjoys baking, spending time at the beach and is new to beekeeping.

Lucy Langshaw

Physiotherapist

Lucy commenced her university studies with a Bachelor of Exercise Science at the University of Wollongong in 2005 before transferring to Charles Sturt University where she completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy) in 2010. Since graduating, Lucy has worked in the private sector and for the Australian Defence Force.

Lucy has experience in treating a wide variety of upper limb conditions with a particular interest in managing shoulder pathology where she has personal experience in this area related to her swimming and water polo. For the past five years Lucy has been interested in Hand Therapy and has commenced on the pathway to becoming an Accredited Hand Therapist through the Australian Hand Therapy Association.

In her spare time Lucy enjoys an active lifestyle including running, mountain bike riding, swimming, and spending time with her dogs.

Elissa Moss

Occupational Therapist

Elissa graduated from the University of Western Sydney in 1999. She has worked in hospitals, the community and private practice. She began working in hand therapy in 2016 and joined the CHT team in 2023. She enjoys all areas of hand therapy and her special interests areas are arthritis, wrist injuries, all kinds of splinting and the rehab of injured musicians.

In her spare time Elissa enjoys playing music with her family and friends. She also enjoys creative writing and is slowly learning watercolor painting. Her garden could do with some attention.

Rebekah Holthuis

Administration

Bek is a highly motivated, organized and welcoming individual, who loves to help and assist people. Bek joined the Canberra Hand Therapy Team in early 2021 and is now an integral part of our reception team.

Bek worked in Human Resources Administration in London for 12 months before returning home to Australia and settling in Canberra in mid 2019.

When not at work Bek loves to spend time with her young son exploring nature and making memories.

Kristine Heslop

Administration

Kristine joined the Canberra Hand Therapy administration team in mid-2022 and brings with her a keen interest in delivering high quality customer service and healthcare outcomes.

Kristine comes from a diverse corporate background mainly in quality management, but more recently has found a passion for integrative health care, bringing together the best of both conventional and complementary therapies. She holds a Diploma of Health Science and is currently completing a Diploma of Nutrition.

When she is away from work and study, Kristine enjoys exploring and hunting for painted rocks for with her daughter and husband, singing, and spending time in the sun.

Georgia Martin

Administration

Georgia has a strong background in customer service and loves connecting with and assisting people. She has been an enthusiastic member of our administration team since the middle of 2022.

Georgia’s passion for helping people has led her to pursue a career in health and she is currently completing a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the University of Canberra.

In between work and study, Georgia likes to stay active by going to the gym or running and socialising with friends.

Administration

Morgan joined the Canberra Hand Therapy team in early 2023. She is passionate about the healthcare sector and wants to help people achieve their goals. She enjoys interacting with clients who come into the clinic and seeing them improve throughout their treatment. Morgan with her ever-growing desire for knowledge, began a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy in 2021 at the University of Canberra. 

Aside from her study schedule, Morgan enjoys spending time with family, friends and her German Shepherd, Bear. She loves indoor plants, listening to music, and landscape photography.

Mara is a bubbly fourth-year undergraduate student studying a double degree in International Relations and Environment and Sustainability. Mara has a passion for assisting people and is ready to help with a smile on her face.

Mara is enthusiastic for gaining knowledge, skills, and work-life experience through meaningful contributions to the community. Mara also enjoys the outdoors especially hiking.
