Frequently Asked Questions

How long are the consultations?

Initial consultations are booked in for 30-45 minutes with subsequent consultations booked in for 30 minutes.

Do I need a referral?
No, you do not need a referral to make an appointment or to claim from your private health fund. However, a referral is needed if you are funded under Workcover, the Department of Veterans Affairs or it is part of an Enhanced Primary Care Plan (Chronic Disease Management Plan). If you are on an NDIS plan, check with your support coordinator as to what funds you might have allocated to use for hand therapy.
Is my appointment covered by Medicare?
If your Doctor has placed you on Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) Plan also known as a Chronic Disease Management Plan then you are eligible to claim under this scheme for up to 5 consultations in a calendar year. To be placed on this plan you need to have a complex injury, requiring multidisciplinary care or a chronic injury that may last for more than 6 months. Please bring your referral and plan paperwork to your appointment. You will also still be required to pay upfront for your appointment with us and then you can claim through Medicare to receive a rebate for a portion of the consultation.
Can I claim from my Private Health Fund?
Yes, you can claim through the HICAPS system for your appointment if you have cover for physiotherapy and/or occupational therapy. The level of rebate you get back will depend on your level of cover. We have HICAPS facilities in our rooms so you will be able to claim for your consultation on the spot by presenting your Health Fund Card.

If you wish to claim for any splints/orthosis or braces that you receive as part of your management, this will need to be made as a manual claim. We can provide you with a letter to submit with this manual claim.

What do I need to bring?
  • A referral if you have one, but this is not required
  • Your health fund card if you have private health insurance
  • Copies of images or investigations taken if available
What if I need to cancel?

We ask that you provide at least 24 hours to cancel an appointment. You can either call, email or text to cancel.
